It took about 15 minutes to totally wreck it. We are still setting up our infrastructure and volunteers are pouring in, but we can always use more. The lot is extremely narrow but a round house has a smaller footprint for the same square footage as compared to a rectangular house. We will be able to get more house in this tight lot using a Deltec home than we would if it was a conventional home. The foundation will be built tonight and construction on the Usea’s home will start in the morning.

Demo Tomorrow!!!

Day 2 March 7th

Nothing happened here today. The family packed and went to Disneyworld for the week. Tomorrow we will demo the Usea’s house.

Door Knocks, Usea and Walker families, Church knock - What a Day!!!!

Day 1 March 6th

Today was door knock at the Westwego home and at the church. I was lucky enough to be able to sit in the production truck and watch the families first hand as they were told the good news. Their surprise and joy was amazing to witness. There wasn’t a dry eye anywhere around me.

The Usea’a and the Walkers are extraordinary people. All very deserving of what we are getting ready to do. They risk their lives to help their neighbors and ask nothing in return. Now maybe we can pay them back in a way that can help them continue the good work that they do for their communities.

We spent some time with the families and the designers. The shows stars and staff are extraordinary too. All of them care very deeply for the families that they are helping. It makes all of effort much more meaningful that the show cares as much as we do.

I can’t say enough about the builder coalition. These people are amazing too. There will be more on this wonderful group of builders from across the country. We are making some great friends and they are doing everything they can to help us make this project a success.

More to follow

Joseph Schlenk
Deltec Homes
